The New Zealand Stroke and Aphasia Handbook version 7

The most recent edition of the New Zealand Stroke and Aphasia Handbook was revised and printed in October 2024. It is specifically designed for people whose lives are directly affected by aphasia – the person who has acquired aphasia, and their family members, whānau, caregivers, and friends.

This resource is free when you become a Friend of AphasiaNZ and it is part of the joining pack which will be sent to you.

Additional copies of the Handbook can be purchased for $50.00 +GST.  Please email us for information about purchasing copies.

Information Brochures

We have a range of brochures that explain what aphasia is and how it can affect friends and family, and which provide communication tips and strategies.

Our aphasia-friendly education booklet Aphasia? is free for people with and affected by aphasia. It was recently updated to include information about fluent and non-fluent aphasia.  It is available in the following languages:
