The New Zealand Stroke and Aphasia Handbook

The November 2018 (version 4) edition of the New Zealand Stroke and Aphasia handbook is specifically designed for people whose lives are directly affected by aphasia – the person who has suffered the brain injury or disease, their family members and whanau, their caregivers, and their friends. This resource is free when you become a 'Friend of AphasiaNZ'.  There is a $35.00 fee for additional copies of the handbook so please enquire with us today.

Workshops and Aphasia Days

AphasiaNZ runs regular workshops and Aphasia Days as forums to raise awareness about aphasia and encourage people to discuss it publicly.  In addition, they are great opportunities for people with aphasia to get together, share ideas, feelings and thoughts in a supportive environment. In 2018 Aphasia Days were held in Hamilton and Invercargill.  The last biennial conference was held in Auckland on the 19th and 20th of November 2015.  More information is available here.

Informational Brochures

Our informational brochures explain what aphasia is and how it can affect friends and family.  Please contact us for a copy or copies.

Our 8 page aphasia-friendly education booklet Aphasia? is free for people with and affected by aphasia.  Contact us for a copy. Bulk orders available at $2 per booklet.

Our Newsletter 'TheWord' is produced every three months, and provides community, national and international information on aphasia, resources, aphasia news, programmes of interest, social events, etc. 'Friends' receive an emailed or posted copy.
